Chambord and Sparkling
Last spring, I discovered an amazing mixed drink in Chambord
and Sparkling Wine. The drink was part
of a Twilight themed get together. It
was called “Edward’s Eyes” (I know, silly, but we’re talking about adult drinks
at an event themed toward a young adult books).
The color of the drink was a beautiful amber much like the color
described in the book.
What I loved about this drink is that it takes two things I
want to like and fixes all the problems.
Champagne style sparkling is often too dry for me. Chambord is too sweet. With their powers combined, they produce a
nice, easy to drink mix that is perfect for any ladies night in.
With the right sparkling, the drink retains a lot of the
dryness. The yeasty dry flavors offset
what can be syrupy sweetness of Chambord.
In the mix, Chambord brings forward the hint of raspberry that balances
the sparkling nicely.
Be warned, don’t pick up an overly sweet sparkling unless
you want to go into a sugar coma. A good
brut will do. A demi-sec might ruin your
night.
And as for a Twilight themed adult party? Sometimes it’s totally fine to let go of the
seriousness of life. Throwing back sushi
with a bunch of fun-loving ladies while giggling at Edward and Bella’s
oh-so-uncomfortable-relationship can do wonders for a stressful week (or
year).
