Martinez Corta Cepas Antiguas Seleccion Privada – Rioja

My extended family wants to take a cruise to Alaska.  I’m not sure what to think about this.  While I love spending time with my family, and the idea of a Caribbean cruise is appealing, I’ve never once thought, “I’d like to go to Alaska.”  I’m sure it’s beautiful.  I’m sure it has a lot of photography opportunities for me to explore.  I’m sure the hiking is spectacular.

I’ll never get my husband on another cruise ship.  He had a less than stellar experience once before when we did a quick Bahamas cruise with friends of ours.  He hated it.  He got really sick one of the days (serious motion sickness).  He spent the rest of the time climbing the walls because he kept thinking about the fact he couldn’t get off the ship.

I don’t know that I’m excited to travel to the other side of the US without him to spend seven days of a ship where my communication with him would be limited.

But, I’ve learned though my adventures with wine, sometimes the unexpected is the best surprise at all.  I know I’d love it.  I love experiencing new things and adventuring to parts unknown.  Maybe this time, I should let go and see where the wind takes me.

This is a nice, young Rioja with pepper on the front and unripe cherries on the back.  It has the kick of a little bit of cedar and spice.  It’s simple, not too complex, with light tannins and a little kick of acid on the front end.  I wonder what kind of fabulous wine I’d drink on a cruise ship…
