The Federalist: Cabernet Sauvignon

I love the Federalist brand.  It’s one of my go-to grocery store wines if I don’t have time to hit up my favorite wine shop.  The Federalist has consistently good wine without overproduction taste.  This particular bottle is fun because it’s got a “special edition” baseball label.  Go Braves!

The Federalist is an American wine company that likes to celebrate all things American.  For someone like me who proudly flies the American flag, it feels patriotic to support the company.  In a time when many people are shying away from shows of patriotism, I appreciate a company whose brand is based on it.

Maybe next year, I’ll plan ahead and make sure I have a bottle from this winery for July 4th as well.  The Zinfandel is lovely, and honestly my favorite grocery store bottle of wine.

This Cab is big and bold.  It’s a dry Cab with a healthy balance of smoothness and tannins.  Flavors of blackberry and tobacco, a nice overlay of smoke, but you can still taste the fruit.  This grilled meat with this – steak, brisket, or just good, old, juicy burgers.  Maybe it’s time to grab a bottle of this and have one last cookout before the chill of fall descends upon us.
