I love this wine. It was part of one of my wine clubs and I
enjoyed it enough that I ordered more bottles. It’s fruit forward, full bodied,
and beautifully complex. But I’ll get to that in a minute.
The holiday season is in full swing. We’re furiously
shopping, looking for the perfect gift. Or possibly, we’re just looking for the
right gift with the right price tag so we can check it off our list of things
to do. I hate gift giving that is just “checking off the box.” I like to give
things that are thoughtful and have meaning. I rarely give gift cards (but I
will give them to high school grads who are moving and need to buy “stuff” for
their dorm rooms).
If you get something from me, chances are there’s thought
behind it. The words on a bottle of wine matter. Read them. It might not be
about the wine or the varietal, it might have more to do with the label. (A
great gift I once received was a bottle of “Writer’s Tears” whiskey from a
friend of mine when I was struggling with writer’s block. I loved it.) Just a
little thought goes a long way.
I hope your holiday shopping is wrapping up. I hope your
budget was enough and you’re getting close to the point in the holidays when
you can relax and enjoy a glass of wine. I hope there is a fireplace and a
Christmas tree with sparkling lights in your near future.
This wine is very fruit forward to me. I get blueberry,
cherry, and blackberry. There’s oak on the finish (but not too much). The
tannins are well rounded and easy. It’s a good value for the price, right at
$20, and drinks like a more expensive wine to me.
