I need a do-over for my week. I’m writing this blog during a production week at work. That means I have approximately 40 parents trying to make sure they know what costumes their kids need to wear, when they need to be dropped off, when doors open for the show, what order the bands play in. Not to mention I’m organizing adult musicians, volunteers who run front of house, sound production crews, photographers, videographers, and any other assortment of people associated with this project.
It's a busy week.
A busy week that started out with a booking error that will cost us over $1000. Good news? We caught the mistake early enough we could find a solution. Bad news? We’re way over budget now and keeping our fingers crossed that we don’t lose money on the overall production.
Needless to say, drinking a glass of wine at 4pm on Wednesday afternoon to write a blog seemed like a fabulous idea. I’ll be having dinner early and turning my computer off once I’m done writing this so that I can’t see any more emergency emails. Just two more days and the production will be over (for now, we start a new production cycle on Monday).
Solroom’s Red Blend is a gorgeous way to take my concerns away for the day. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Syrah from Lodi and Lake counties, this is a full bodied, fruity wine that goes nicely with the piece of cheese I’m eating (cheddar, if you’re curious). It’s full of big, dark juices – plum, dark cherry, and blackberry. The tannins don’t knock you over, they’re subtle and soft.
Sometimes, you need a mid-week timeout. Sometimes, you need to turn off the email, silence the phone, and watch an episode of “Ghost Nation.” (What can I say, I like spooky things?) Sometimes, you just need to escape to California in a glass of wine.
